The Tattingstone Wheatsheaf are raising money for Suffolk Mind this year. Mind know how good gardening can be for our mental health and wellbeing, providing green spaces and allotments for service users. We have come up with some exciting events in support of this.
Mind Your Sunflower competition.
The aim is for the community to grow a glorious swathe of colour along the A137 Wheatsheaf hedgerow. You can buy the seeds from The Wheatsheaf now, or you can enter a variety of your choice. You will be allocated a plot to use, and from then on it will be your responsibility to grow and tend your sunflower until the final judging in August. So, join in, and help us grow a row of sunshine.
Mind Your Garden sale.
From 1st April onwards there will be a table in the beer garden with plants, seedlings and garden sundries. Please donate whatever plants, garden equipment, gardening books etc you can spare, and perhaps pick up a bargain. (You might even be lucky enough to get some sunflower or beetroot seedlings).
Mind Your Beetroot
As part of our Beetroot Blues and Beer festival in July, we will also have the popular home-grown beetroot contest. Categories include the largest and the most novel shape. Boltardy beetroot seeds are the earliest variety and are on sale now from the Wheatsheaf. Or you can grow any variety of your choosing. They are easy to grow, tasty to eat, and you could even win a prize with them.
